Achievement & Recognition Awards

KYTSA puts a lot of focus on Competitive Events, but we also have other areas to celebrate and recognize, and we would like to bring recognition to individuals, chapters and businesses that make a difference in KYTSA. These awards recognize and celebrate excellence in leadership, service, and dedication to advancing TSA’s mission at the chapter, state, and national levels.

Award Descriptions

Chapter Advisor of the Year Award

The Chapter Advisor of the Year Award is presented to the KYTSA chapter advisor who

has provided exemplary service and support to KYTSA. Both past and current

contributions are considered. Chapter advisors cannot receive this award two years in a

row. There will be one middle school recipient and one high school recipient. Recipients

are recognized at the State KYTSA conference.


KYTSA Chapter Advisors who have shown outstanding performance in the following

areas:

  1. Support to and recruitment of student members
  2. Sponsorship of officer candidates beyond the chapter level
  3. Notable projects within the chapter’s program of work
  4. Participation in TSA at the state and national levels; and facilitation and leadership skills

Chapter Excellence Award

The Chapter Excellence Award is presented to chapters that are outstanding models in KYTSA. Many areas of chapter operation are reviewed. Chapters may not receive this award two years in a row. There will be one middle school recipient and one high school recipient. Recipients are recognized at the State KYTSA conference.


KYTSA middle and high school chapters who meet this criteria:

  1. Chapter engagement
  2. Scholastic and educational activities in curriculum
  3. Participation in TSA at the state and national levels; and facilitation and leadership skills
  4. Chapter activities
  5. Chapter fundraising and community service/engagement
  6. Chapter involvement with alumni

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to a KYTSA alumni based on his or her demonstrated commitment and service to KYTSA beyond high school graduation. The recipient is recognized at the state KYTSA conference.


TSA alumni who meet these criteria:

  1. Graduated from high school at least three years prior to the current year
  2. Was a member in good standing with KYTSA for a minimum of two years
  3. Actively participated in TSA after graduation, as evidenced by attendance at TSA conferences, membership on TSA committees, judging of student events, or other service of value to TSA

Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who has provided valued service to KYTSA and who has been responsible for the continued growth and success of KYTSA. Both past and current contributions are considered. The recipient is recognized at the state KYTSA conference.


Adults who meet these criteria:

  1. Association or affiliation with TSA in some capacity for a minimum of three years
  2. Active participation in TSA through attendance at TSA conferences, membership on TSA committees, judging of student events, etc.
  3. Involvement with advancing TSA as evidenced by work in professional education groups, publications, research, etc.
  4. High standards of achievement through such endeavors as the establishment of new TSA chapters; TSA program expansion or innovation; or oversight of student members who have achieved prominence and distinction
  5. Recognition of fellow professionals as indicated by similar awards from local, district, state, or regional groups

Distinguished Student Award

The Distinguished Student Award is given to a KYTSA student member based on valued service in KYTSA and within the member’s community. Both past and current contributions are considered. The recipient is recognized at the state KYTSA conference.


Current TSA student members who meet these criteria:

  1. Are members in good standing with TSA for a minimum of one school year
  2. Have actively participated in TSA at the local, state, and/or national level
  3. Have achieved prominence and distinction in TSA and within the member’s community

Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award

The Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest recognition award in KYTSA, is given to an individual who has supported KYTSA in significant ways for a minimum of five years and who can be expected to have continued interest in KYTSA and its activities. Both past and current contributions are considered. The recipient is recognized at the state KYTSA conference.


Adults who meet these criteria:

  1. Have a record of significant support of and association with TSA for a minimum of five years
  2. Exhibit a desire for continued involvement in TSA and its activities

Outstanding Recognition Award

The Outstanding Recognition Award is presented to an individual, organization, or

business that has provided valued service to KYTSA and has contributed to KYTSA’s growth. Both past and present contributions are considered. The recipient is recognized at the state KYTSA conference.


Individuals, organizations, or businesses that meet these criteria:

  1. Have been associated or affiliated with TSA in some capacity at the local, state, or national level for a minimum of three years
  2. Have been actively involved with TSA as demonstrated by providing exemplary services, products, or other assistance that enhances the work and supports the goals of TSA
  3. Have actively participated in TSA, as demonstrated by attendance at TSA conferences, membership on committees, judging of student events, etc.
  4. Have advanced TSA by encouraging business personnel and/industry leaders to support TSA activities
